Golden Eagles Sign Two Infielders
Sean Lamont and Jakob Dalfonso Join Glens Falls 2009 Team
The Glens Falls Golden Eagles recently announced two top-level infielders will be joining the 2009 roster this summer season. Sophomore infielder Sean Lamont (Georgetown) and freshman shortstop Jakob Dalfonso (Middle Georgia College) will both play for the Eagles this year.
Having played in all 50 games this season, Lamont leads the team in total at-bats (195), runs scored (35), homeruns (14), RBI (50), total bases (106), slugging percentage (.544). His 14 homeruns puts Lamont fifth in the Big East. In his last four games, Lamot’s batting .333 with five RBI and three runs scored.
As a freshman for the Hoyas in 2008, Lamont ranked No. 11 in the Big East in slugging percentage (.564), led the team in home runs (12), RBI (35), and second in doubles (10).
Starting shortstop for the Middle Georgia Warriors, who are two wins away from the NJCAA Division I World Series, freshman Jakob Dalfonso leads all Warrior hitters with 165 at-bats. His .315 batting average, 52 hits, five doubles, and 29 RBI were influential in the team’s 43-17 win-loss record.
During the postseason in 2009, Dalfonso ignited for a 5-for-9 performance, including a homerun, two doubles, and two stolen bases in the first round of the the playoffs. In the second round, Dalfonso continued his torrid hitting streak, smacking three, three-hit games, including a 3-for-4 night in the championship game with three runs and three RBI. Dalfonso is also a perfect 34-for-34 in stolen bases this season, which leads the team.
