ALBANY Ryan Retz hit two home runs as the Glens Falls Golden
Eagles scored a 17-8 victory over Albany in a see-saw game at
Bleecker Stadium on Thursday.
The Eagles won for the second night in a row and evened their New
York Collegiate Baseball League record at 14-14, giving them a boost
in the race for a playoff spot. Glens Falls has scored 24 runs in
the past two games.
The Eagles return home Friday night to face Mohawk Valley at East
Field.
David Olson also hit a home run in a game that went back and
forth during the early innings. The Eagles scored three runs in the
first inning and two more in the second, but Albany later tied it
5-5. However, an eight-run inning late in the game gave the Eagles a
big boost.
The Eagles have 13 games remaining in the regular season. The
playoffs are scheduled to start on July 30.
Friday's game at East Field will be "Baseball vs. Cancer
Night." Fans are asked to dress in purple as part of the cancer
prevention theme.
Three dollars from all pre-sale tickets, and $2 from tickets sold
at the gate, will be donated to the American Cancer Society's Relay
for Life. Giveaways are scheduled as part of the game, including a
prize for the person dressed in the most purple.
Golden Eagles players and coaches will take batting practice in
specially designed shirts that will be autographed and distributed
through a silent auction.
